2026 Season Applications & League Structure
We hope that you are having a wonderful season to date. We'd like to thank each of you for your continued commitment and passion, which helps make our league a vibrant and successful competition.
After careful review of the challenges faced during the recent season, particularly the shortage of available grounds and umpires, we are making a structural change to the league format for the upcoming season.
Key Change for Next Season
We will be reducing the number of teams in the league for 2026 Season. Final number will depend upon the grounds being available and any resignations/new applications being received by the league.
Why This Change?
The primary goal is to enhance the quality and consistency of the league. Some of the key benefits of this change include:
- Reliable Access to Grounds: Fewer games per weekend ensures that all matches are played on good-quality grounds with minimal last-minute changes or cancellations.
- Umpiring Coverage: With a smaller fixture list, we can ensure all matches are officiated by qualified umpires, reducing disputes and improving the overall playing experience.
- Better Scheduling: A more compact structure allows us to create a more balanced and predictable fixture calendar with fewer clashes and logistical issues.
- Higher Standard of Competition: With fewer teams, divisions can be more evenly matched, leading to more competitive and enjoyable games.
- Improved Player Safety & Experience: Consistent facilities and officiating contribute directly to safer playing environments and a more professional match-day atmosphere.
- Clothing - Colour clothing for ALL the teams sponsored by the league.
Application Process
Please see 2026 Season tab for the application form for the 2026 season. Due to the reduced number of teams, applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the order in which both the application form and fee are received. Teams that come with a ground will get a priority.
Also wanted to inform the Premiership teams that the Calthorpe Ground will not be used for the Premier Division.
Important: Applications will only be considered complete and received once payment has been made in full to Local League Cricket.
The final deadline to submit your completed application and payment is Sunday 24th August 2025. we strongly encourage early submission to secure your place.
Format Continuity
The league will continue to include:
- 40-over league matches
- The popular T20 Cup
- The Shield competition
- These formats will run similarly to previous years, ensuring a full and exciting cricketing season.
- We understand that this change may require adjustment for some teams, but we truly believe this is a necessary step to ensure the long-term health and quality of the competition.
