Local League Cricket T20 Rules

The T20 Competitions will be straight knock out competitions

This competition will be played in white clothing and Red Ball for Divisions 2 to 4 and colour clothing and Pink Ball for Premier Division and Division 1.

The cost of the Pitch fees will be shared by both Teams.

Umpires fee will be £50 per match (£25 paid by each Team)

1. Matches will start at 12:00 noon, 13:30 pm or 3:30pm; Unless advertised different on Website. Each Innings will be 1 Hour and 20 minutes with 10 minutes grace period, first innings cut off will be at 13:30 for 12:00 noon start. There will be 15 minutes break before the second Innings starts at 1:45pm. Match starting at 12 noon should finish at 3:15 pm.
For matches starting at 13:30pm, first innings cut off will be at 3:00pm with 10 minutes grace period included. There will be 15 minutes break before the second Innings starts at 3:15pm. Match starting at 1:30pm should finish at 4:45pm.
Similar concept needs to apply to the matches starting at 3:30pm. First innings cut off will be at 5:00pm with 10 minutes grace period included. There will be 15 minutes break before the second Innings starts at 5:15pm. Match starting at 3:30pm should finish at 6:45pm.

2. The “time” will be according to the Umpire’s watch, therefore it is advisable to synchronise your watches with the Umpire’s watch at the beginning of the game;

3. Any team(s) that is / are not able to start at the scheduled time will lose one Over for every 4 minutes lost (e.g. 1 Over lost for 1 minute lost, 1 Over lost for 2 minutes lost, 1 Over lost for 3 minutes lost, 1 Over lost for 4 minutes lost, 2 Overs lost for 5 minutes lost, etc.). If the teams do not finish the overs within the cut-off times mentioned above under point 1, then one additional fielder will need to be brought inside the circle.

4. The Umpire will be given 2 used RED match balls by the fielding side at the start of each fielding innings to counter any lost balls. It is the responsibility of the fielding side to provide a replacement ball if a ball gets lost. Failing to provide a ball will result in the game being lost by the fielding team.

5. A game can only start with a minimum of 8 players;

6. If a game does not start 39 minutes after the schedule time (by the Umpire’s watch) due to a team not having the minimum of 8 players required, then the game will be awarded to the opposition. The offending team will be fined £50.00, and be required to pay the FULL pitch fee and the full Umpires fee.

7. You must inform the opposing Captain and the Umpire of any players who will be arriving late. The cards of players arriving late MUST also be given to the Umpire at the scheduled time of the toss of the coin of each match;

8. A team will lose the right to the toss if they do not have a minimum of 8 players on the field (NOT in cars or the changing rooms) at 11:45 for 12 noon start or 1.15pm for 1:30pm start or 3:15pm for 3:30 start (or 15 minutes before the schedule start time);

9. Once the players are named (cards checked), no other player(s) will be able to replace them. All ID cards have to be checked for all players playing in matches.

10. No player will be allowed to play without an ID card – there are no exceptions to this rule. Only players registered by a team can be substituted to play for them. Potential substitute(s) cards must also be given to the Umpire for inspection before the time of toss, and player lined up for ID check;

11. Players turning up 40 minutes or more after the scheduled start time of a game will not be able to play at all (including fielding). For example: The game is scheduled to start at 12:00 noon and the player(s) arrive at 12:40 or for 1.30pm start, the player(s) arrive at 2.10pm. In this case the player(s) cannot play in the game. Player(s) must be on the field of play before12:39pm for a match starting at 12pm and by 2.09pm for a match starting at 1:30pm, to be allowed to play. The “time” will be according to the Umpire’s watch. Same concept applies to match starting at 3:30pm.

12. Player(s) arriving late cannot bowl or bat until they have been on the field of play for at least the time they were late, e.g. if the player was 30 minutes late, then he cannot bat or bowl for at least 30 minutes since he started to play. The time will only start from the time they have informed the opposing Captain and the Umpire. As per rule 11, player(s) can only be late by a maximum of 39 minutes. No excuses will be entertained. Fielding can commence immediately upon informing the opposing Captain and the Umpire. No substitute(s) can field for a late or absent player;

13. If a player arrives late, he cannot bat or bowl until his penalty has expired. This means that if, for example, a team has lost 9 wickets and the late batsman cannot bat for another 3 minutes, then the innings will be closed;

14. Substitutes are only allowed to field if an injury to a player occurs in that match. No substitute will be allowed to play for any player that is already carrying an injury. As per rule 11, substitute(s) must be registered players for the team and their ID cards must have been handed in to the Umpire for inspection at before the toss of the coin. Substitute(s) cannot bat or bowl.

15. 10 Overs will constitute a game. The team batting second will face a minimum of 10 Overs for the game to be valid unless they have scored the required runs beforehand. Net run rate will be used for games that are incomplete after 10 Overs.
As an example:
Team A scores 100 Runs in 20 Overs, net run rate is 5
Team B scores 75 in 15 Overs.
Team B Wins (net run rate is 5).
If the score of Team B was 74 or below then Team A would win.
(Note that in this example, a team may be on 52 runs in 9.5 Overs and the game is halted with no continuation. In that case, the result will be no game, since 10 full Overs have not been completed.) In this case a result will be achieved by a toss of the coin

16. All games will be a maximum of 20 Overs per side, unless a side is bowled out earlier;

17. A maximum 4 Overs per bowler will be allowed per game;

18. All games in the LL Cricket Leagues’ T20 Competitions will have a 30-yard circle. 4 players after the Power Play of 6 overs (excluding the bowler and the wicket keeper) will be in the circle at all times during the match, otherwise a “no ball” decision will be given;

19. A New RED ball will be used for the start of each innings. New Pink Ball for teams in Premier and Div 1. This is the fielding sides responsibility,

20. First 6 Overs will be Power play, where a minimum of 9 players including the Bowler and the wicket keeper must be inside the 30 Yard circle.

21. The Competition will be 11-a-side with the minimum number of 8 players required for the game to commence;

22. If a team cannot fulfil their fixture(s) for any reason, they will be responsible for paying the costs of the game (pitch and Umpires fees for both teams);

23. All legside deliveries will be recorded as wide (a ball going outside of the leg stump and the batsman);

24. For ALL NO BALLS a free hit will be awarded – the only way for a Batsman to be GIVEN out on a FREE HIT will be a run out;

25. Results MUST be submitted online and a text of results must be sent in before the cut off time as stated below-
*12:00 Noon start – Results must be submitted and must be received before 4:15pm on the match day by both sides;
* 1:30pm start – Results must be submitted and must be received before 5:45pm on the match day by both sides;
* 3:30pm start – Results must be submitted and must be received before 7:45pm on the match day by both sides;

The submission must contain both teams’ scores, the Overs and balls they have bowled and faced, and the player and team name of anyone scoring 50 runs or more, taking 4 or more wickets, Hattrick.
EXAMPLE:-
Name of Team sending Text
“Team A, 120 for 6 in 39.4 Overs. M Ali 54. S Hussain 4 for 18
Team B, 124 for 7 in 30.4 Overs. S Hussain 68. M Hussain 5 for 28
Score Umpires performance out of 10, 0 being the lowest, 10 being the highest.

26. The Umpire’s decision will be final. Any player(s) abusing an Umpire will be banned and fined. If an Umpire reports player(s) for conduct detrimental to the spirit of the game or other players, they will be banned as a minimum without exception for 2 Matches.

27. Please note that if a rule is missing or something is not covered herein, you should inform the League; Also the committee reserves the right to amend or add a new rule during the season, this will be communicated to all teams.

28. Any occurrence that is not covered by these rules will be dealt with by LL Cricket Leagues’ Committee. All decisions undertaken by LL Cricket Leagues’ Committee are final;

29. Any team who does not abide by these rules will be expelled from the tournament and fined £200.00;
Text any time if you have a problem.

30. Points System
* Win - 20 points (for an outright win – same scores but losing fewer wickets / one team unable to play);
* Tie - scores and wickets same regardless of Overs, then a super over will be bowled to determine result.

If the results are still level at this point, then scores from each ball bowled in the Super Over will decide the winners (i.e. Team A scored 2 on the first ball, and Team B scored 1 on their first ball, therefore Team A wins. If the results are same for the first ball, then this process will continue to the next ball until a winner is determined); if a super over is a draw then a Bowl out of 3 attempts by 3 Players will take place to determine the Winner. If still level then sudden death bowl out at the stumps will determine the winners.

It is the responsibility of each team to provide a scorer. If there is no scorer from one team then that team will accept the other team’s scoring. Where an agreement cannot be reached, the Umpire will check the scorebook and the bowling figures. The Umpire’s decision will be final;

31. Matches Affected by Weather
Once a game starts, you will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the First Innings and the same for the Second Innings. 10 Overs will constitute a game. If no play is possible then the result will be achieved by a toss of a coin. Or if a different solution is possible the League will make the Final decision.

Please remember the Final Decision will be by the Committee
